NTT DATA Teams with Rubrik to Fortify Against Ransomware Threats

At a glance

A bigger push against ransomware

Ransomware attacks keep getting more damaging. Big companies want help recovering. On March 24, 2025, NTT DATA, the global IT services company, and Rubrik, a cybersecurity company focused on data security, announced an expanded global partnership for cyber resilience under which NTT DATA will offer consulting, integration and managed services powered by Rubrik across on-premises, SaaS and cloud environments.

What the partnership covers

The expanded deal includes new Ransomware Protection Services, built on zero trust guidelines, which NTT DATA now offers worldwide. The services are meant to prepare customers to respond before, during and after a ransomware attack.

Hidehiko Tanaka, Head of Technology and Innovation at NTT DATA, said the expanded partnership would strengthen the company’s ability to deliver security services to clients around the world and help keep their operations running through an attack.

How zero trust fits in

Rubrik’s zero trust data security is at the center of the offering. Zero trust works on the principle of “never trust, always verify”: every access request has to be authenticated and authorized. That limits how far an attacker can get, and it helps protect backups so data can be restored after an attack.

“As a trusted and longstanding strategic partner, Rubrik is proud to expand our collaboration with NTT DATA for cyber resilience,” said Ghazal Asif, VP, Global Channel and Alliances at Rubrik.

What customers get

For companies with sprawling IT operations, the pitch is simple. Data stays protected, and recovery is faster.

Faster recovery is the key selling point. NTT DATA’s customers, which include many of the world’s largest companies, get a managed path to restore systems if ransomware hits.

Why partnerships like this matter

The NTT DATA and Rubrik deal targets one of the biggest threats companies face. It focuses on preparation and recovery, not just prevention.

As attacks keep evolving, more security and IT services firms are likely to team up like this. Customers want one place to go when ransomware strikes.
